It was the hope and desire of the liturgical renewal of the Second Vatican Council that the laity have a more active role and greater participation in the celebration of Mass. One of the ways this desire was to be lived out was by celebrating the Mass in the "vernacular" (the "language of the people"), which would allow the people to join in the responses, acclamations, and other prayers. A large portion of the responses/ acclamations at Mass properly belong to the laity. As we celebrate the Holy Eucharist, be a part of what is going on! Make sure that you join in the prayers, responses, and yes, even the SINGING! Participation by everyone will make our celebration a more joyful and inspiring encounter with our Lord!
