Peace and blessings to all of you. I pray this note finds you all doing very well.
It was last September - on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross that our beloved Bishop James Johnston was appointed the bishop of Kansas City-St. Joseph and thus our diocese became vacant.
This week our Holy Father Francis named Bishop Edward Rice - auxiliary bishop from the Archdiocese of St. Louis to be our next bishop - a man that I have known for almost two decades - Bishop Rice is a dedicated, hardworking, prayerful and holy priest. He has a great love for the Church and God's people.
I thank God for this amazing man who in the months and years to come will help us in our journey to know, love and serve God with joy.
Bishop Rice says his special intentions are; "specifically for the priests and the religious, that they be clothed in holiness and inspire vocations, to pray for the laity, especially for a renewal of marriage and family life, and to pray for our young people, the youth of our diocese, that they may come to know Christ and be zealous for the faith. Those three intentions I have prayed for daily since March 25th, 2011."
Please offer a rosary for Bishop Rice who will be installed as our Seventh Bishop on Wednesday June 1, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Springfield, MO.
Ad Multos Annos!!!
I thank you all for all that you do in your homes to promote and live the faith. May Our Lady Queen of heaven intercede for all of us.
Be at peace and remain blessed.
