Arriving for Mass

Posted on January 10, 2020 in: General News

There seems to be a growing trend for more and more people to arrive late for Mass (both weekday and weekend Mass). At times, there are always situations out of our control which may make a person late for Mass. If arriving late has become a regular trend or pattern for you, please make some adjustments in your schedule. It has been the practice and teaching of the Church that in order to receive Holy Communion at Mass as well as fulfilling one's Sunday Obligation, a person needs to be present by the time the Gospel is read. Our souls are nourished both with the words of Christ in the Gospel and His Body and Blood in Holy Communion. We need to be nourished first with the Gospel in order to be nourished with the Holy Eucharist. Thanks for your consideration in this matter!
