Oftentimes, the teachings of the Catholic Church (which we believe are the inspired teachings of Christ) are misunderstood, misinterpreted, or misconstrued by many people, both within and outside the Church. Our secular media has a tendency to "misrepresent" the Church in her teachings, oftentimes causing conflict, confusion, and division. As Catholics, we know that many times the teachings of the Church contradict and "go against" popular opinion and secular views regarding values and morality. As a result, the moral views of many Catholics are shaped and formed NOT by the Gospel and the teachings of Christ, but by secular opinions/beliefs. As we claim the name of "Catholic", we should have an invested interest and knowledge of what the Church "authentically" teaches about moral issues. Over the next few weeks, pamphlets will be included in the bulletin which focus on the "hot button" moral issues of our day and what the Church really teaches! May these pamphlets be helpful in explaining, understanding, and accepting these beautiful teachings of Christ which are important to our salvation!
